Bournemouth

Beside the seaside, close to perfection

Don’t forget your bucket and spade – family-friendly Bournemouth has seven miles of sandy beaches, stretched out on the sumptuous, sultry, south coast of England, lapped by some of the warmest seas in the UK.

Not for nothing is this area called The Coast With The Most – it has such a lot to see and do, for all tastes and ages, including no less than 2,000 acres of parks and gardens, with the town centre’s Victorian-era gardens being Grade II listed. There are several excellent golf courses to keep you out in the fresh air, along with a tropical paradise and nature reserve. Then there’s surfing, paddle boarding, jet-skiing, crazy golf and more.

If by chance it should rain...

...then no worries, head for the magical oceanarium, museums, galleries, amusement arcades and any of the exhibitions hosted here throughout the year. There’s so much to enjoy here, it’s almost frightening (well, Bournemouth is the last resting place of Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein).

Whatever the season, it’s always time to visit Bournemouth. Loganair offers flights between Bournemouth and the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey.
